C-SUITE Leadership

I have spent the last 20 years of my career in c-suite level leadership positions. These experiences have included Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operations Officer (COO), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Information Officer(CIO), and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for various organizations.

A different kind of leader

As the CEO of companies I’ve worked with, I have been responsible for assembling the best teams, building relationships with suppliers, and ensuring our companies regulatory and financial obligations are met, as well as ensuring the money of our investors was guarded and utilized wisely toward the production of positive cash flow.

As the COO I have worked with companies to build better processes, automate workflows, and to streamline operations to create a repeatable, easy to learn environment for staff to work and thrive in.

As a technology executive, CTO and CIO, I have been able to step away from daily operations and focus on the technology direction of a company. This ability to focus on the areas where business and technology cross, especially in technology companies can be a challenging position. Often this career is busier than the CEO because there is simply so much crossover of duty.

As a CMO I have worked in developing marketing technology, generating leads, and contributing to the brand messaging for products and services. My duties have included running teams of marketers, developing marketing strategy, and implementing on-the-ground marketing activities.

My Leadership background

I have always gravitated toward leadership roles, not always because of a desire to lead, but because of a capability that those around me recognize and often defer to.

In one of my earlier careers, in the telemarketing industry, it took me only 30 days to become “team leader,” and only 90 days to be named west coast sales director. Some of this can be easily written off as telemarketing being an extremely high turn over job. The rest can be explained away by the way I work.

I have always believed in sharing the glory, helping others find the best path forward, and doing everything I can to learn from others and share what I have learned.

I carry this belief into every position I fill, and encourage those I lead to behave in the same way. In leading by example, learning by example, I can show those I work with the best way to grow, innovate, move forward.

On top of my experience, I continue to development my skills and network of contacts by participating in organizations like Vistage and Infragard.
