About Me
When I am working I like solving problems with technology and innovative solutions with proven foundations. When I am not working I love geeking out with my kids, fast bikes, and long books. Its all about balance.
My Work Experience
Entity Web Presence – Lead Web Developer 1997 – 1999
My relevant work history started in 1997 with the web development company Entity Web Presence, in Orcutt, California. This small boutique web development firm focused on helping small businesses achieve a presence on the Internet through static marketing message websites.
My personal involvement was the writing of HTML and performing design work such as image optimization and content management.
Robert Half Technology – Consultant 1999
In 1999, as a technology consultant and software developer, I offered my services on contract to organizations that needed short-term assistance. This service included such companies as Key Bank, Bank of America, Momentum Interactive, and Travelbridge. I most often acted as a software developer using technologies ranging from C++ and Java to web based technologies like HTML and XML.
Travelbridge Air Land Sea, Ltd – IT Director 1999-2001
In 2000, as the companies Chief Internet Engineer, I wrote and directed all of the web activities. As a member of the IT department, I also assisted with technology requirements for the company including server configurations, desktop support, and learned valuable troubleshooting skills while supporting a large travel agency staff across multiple locations in multiple states.
Desert Rain Executive Services / Desert Rain Software – CTO 2001-2008
In 2000, while still employed with Travelbridge I founded Desert Rain Software with several partners. This company was dedicated to providing best in class service and support to companies in executive centers. This led to the development of important technology which eventually became CloudLink ERP. As a partner in this company, I progressed from software developer to Chief Technology Officer of the span of 6 years. I went from being the sole developer of the company to leading a small team of developers in two states.
Kennedy Computer Consulting – CEO/President 2008 – 2013
In 2008, Desert Rain Software was closed and the technology was supported by a new company I founded called Kennedy Computer Consulting. Kennedy Computer Consulting grew to a larger staff, and I acted as the President and CEO of this company until its sale and wind-down in Mid-2013. As President of this company, I raised nearly half a million dollars in capital to support the growth of the company and to migrate the companies flagship product to the cloud.
CloudLink ERP Solutions – CTO 2013-2015
In 2013, as one of the founders of CloudLink ERP, I was offered the position of Chief Technology Officer. CloudLink carries on the more than 13-year tradition of the technology originally created by Desert Rain Software for business management, now known as CloudLink ERP. My current position involves making technology decisions for the company, product architecture, as well as management of the software development teams for the product.
DEVUPP – COO 2015-2017
This organization was born out a change in my personal focus, and the desire that grew during my tenure at CloudLink ERP Solutions to help small businesses. My wife and I had lived the entrepreneur’s life for so long that we saw two major market downturns and watched hundreds of businesses that we worked with personally over the years simply evaporate. As a result, we helped create this company to achieve a new approach to software development, one that would be more transparent, easier for our clients to follow and work with, and ultimately to reduce costs and chances of failure. Over the two years I worked with this organization we helped SMB companies into a complete set of services and solutions geared toward growth, avoiding pitfalls, and building something that lasts. We put together a great team, and ultimately built the foundation for our next adventure with Willow.ai. DEVUPP still exists as a subsidiary to our family company and now focuses on software development for the startup and SMB market.
Willow.ai – CEO/CTO 2017-2022
This organization was created with a small group of likeminded individuals who wanted to focus on artificial intelligence solutions and approaching data science differently than the typical beginner academic approach. We wanted to find real solutions for businesses, focus on systems that could grow and change as new information was discovered, and to focus on developing and working with people instead of replacing them. I grew this company to over $2 million in revenue as its CEO and CTO for nearly 5 years.
Edify.ai – CTO 2018 – 2022
Edify.ai was founded by a small group out of Utah with a focus originally on diversity and inclusion in the workplace. As CTO of this organization I watched over our development operations, and saw the transition from the original mission to critical pivot into construction safety. I conceived many of the companies MVP applications, managed a team of international developers, and worked daily with our artificial intelligence and data science teams.
My Photography CV
With the creation of Willow Galleries, and my listing there I have set out to put together a curriculum vitae for my art career specifically. Though this passion does not take up a great deal of my time it has started to provide a decent recurring income for me, and as such deserves some attention. I will include a link here soon to this resource, for now please visit my page on Willow Galleries.
My Writing CV
As I have started to edit and publish two different periodicals, have some emerging written works, and a slough of articles this area is also growing in need for an updated curriculum vitae. This will be made available soon via my writing website. For the time being you can get more information on my writing on this website.
